Navigating Life’s In-Between Seasons

We are in the full throes of summer, and this is the middle of the year. Fam, I have a question,

Have you ever been in between?
Do you enjoy change?

To be honest with you. I don’t. But there is nothing worse than being in between.

Some of us are in our in-between season:

In between homes
In between jobs
In between schools
And even relationships.

Sometimes, if not all the time. Being in between comes at the most inopportune time. We say to ourselves

I’m moving.
But I am not there yet.
I can’t go back, and I don’t know what’s ahead.

To be honest, I get uncertain, unsure, and uncomfortable. Here are a few suggestions.

Stay Focused on Your Purpose

As you travel through life, stay focused on your goal. Stay focused on your purpose. Remember why you are here. Remember who you are. There will be people who don’t have the same ideals as you. There will be people who do not share your motivation. As a matter of fact, there will be some who are there only to steal your dreams! These people can be distractions, distracting you from your goals and distracting you from your purpose.

Self-Distraction: Our Own Worst Enemy

There can be times when we distract ourselves! Yes, it might be a great idea, but analysis paralysis is a real thing (trust me, I know). Even worse, procrastination is a real thing too.

We would say something like:

I’ll do it next month
Next week
And then suddenly
Wow, it’s due tonight!

While in between, we can’t be distracted or be a distraction.

How to Stay Focused

How can we not be distracted while being here? Here are a few suggestions on how to stay focused.

Meditate on your goals.
Think about them.
Write about them. (In a calendar or journal)
Internalize them.
Affirm them.
Practice them.

Make S.M.A.R.T Goals. They should be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound. It’s the small victories that will win the battle.

One more thing, believe in yourself even when no one else does. (That might be just for me. But I’m sharing anyway.)

I believe your day will come. Remember having focus is not passive but active. You can and will reach your goal!

Talk to you later.
